The New and Much Improved Google Adsense Reports

It’s been a long time since a product update has excited me this much. I will try to post more observations and thoughts as I get to play a bit more, but so far the one word that comes to mind is – Sweet. Below are a few screenshots from the new interface for those who haven’t bee able to check it out yet. I hate screenshots where almost everything is blurred out so I don’t mind sharing what I make from Adsense in a month. I’m no Shoemoney, that’s for sure – but I do ok for someone with a full-time job and no paid traffic.

The main dashboard page at login shows alerts, performance summary for all channels and earnings for all channels.

The Performance reports tab showing earnings by day. You can also choose to show clicks, impressions, CTR or eCPM. As you hover your mouse over the graph you can see the chosen metric for a specific day. You can also choose to see multiple metrics at the same time. For instance, it would be interesting to note the relationship between clicks and earnings, page impressions with CTR, or eCPM with any of these. Did my earnings go up because I was getting a better eCPM, a higher CTR or simply more traffic/impressions?

The My Ads tab lets you break down reporting by channel or ad unit. This screenshot shows a specific ad unit over the course of one week. It even shows me what the ad looks like, and allows me to get the code and edit style or background color from this page. The only thing missing that I can think of would be a list of URLs on which the ad appears. That could get quite bulky, but an exportable CSV file would work perfectly.

The Ad Review section hasn’t changed much yet. You can still see the ads that you are allowing and blocking, and any new ads up for review. However, you cannot block ads by keyword or topic yet. Google says this feature will be available in the new interface soon. And with all of the great new reporting we publishers will be able to make better decisions when such features do come out.

    Hi Everett,
Thanks for sharing this, I didn’t realize Google was launching new Adsense screens. My adsense isn’t showing these new screens though, is this still in some type of beta testing?

    Thanks for the screen shots,
    Karen

    Karen,

You should see a link at the top of the page to view the new Adsense if you have been invited to the program. If not, you may have to wait until it’s out of beta.
