Help Me Choose a Mo to Grow – Prostates Will Thank You
I recently joined the Search For The Cure team to help raise funds for men’s health awareness, specifically prostate cancer. Have you been screened yet? You may be happy to know that the dreaded finger isn’t the only way to check for prostate cancer. You can have your PSA levels checked too, which does not involve any digital examinations. WHEW!
I’m running a distant third at the moment, but you can help me catch up by donating to the cause here! Think of it like a pink ribbon, only instead of a ribbon it’s a stash, and instead of being pink it will be…. I guess it could be pink? And you can’t take it off all month. Or think of it like a marathon only instead of sponsoring me to run around the city you’re sponsoring a kick-ass mo! Starting today I will begin growing my mo from a clean shave. It will continue to take shape during the month of November so I’ll be sporting a baby mo at PubCon next week. It’s a shame they don’t let you start from a beard because I could have a mean trucker-mo if I trimmed it right. I may even be able to pull of one of these if I had more than a month…
On the bright side, prostate cancer doesn’t tend to metastasize as easily as many other cancers. On the other hand, it is extremely common. I was once told by a doctor that prostate cancer will affect almost every guy if he lives long enough. That’s how prevalent it is! If you want a chance to do something about a health issue that is sure to affect several people you know, possibly even yourself, now’s your chance.
You can help in several ways:
- Create your own Movember Team or Join an existing team and start collecting donations. Choose your adventure here!
- Donate! You can give donations to either a team member’s profile or to the team itself. Either way it goes to the same cause.
- Spread the word on social media channels, blogs, emails… and send people to the Search for The Cure page on Movember.com.
BTW: Anyone who donates to my Movember page will be thanked (see below) on this post.
I’ll update this post throughout the month with pictures so supporters can see the mo they’ve invested in (temporarily adopted?). In the meantime, there’s still time to provide input on which mo I should grow. I prefer the Trucker look myself, but could be persuaded otherwise…

Here’s what we ended up with on Movember 30th…

So do we get to see the final product?
