Annual Credit Report is the ONLY Real FREE Credit Report Website
Aaron Wall posted about how Google allows sponsored ads from the likes of FreeCreditReport.com to show above the government website AnnualCreditReport.com.
Without going into the ethics of this situation and whether it is right for Google to profit from misleading ads, I’d rather take the free market approach and just link to the best credit report website using the keywords I think they deserve to be #1 for. …and I will. But, there is nothing I or any other linker can do to move the #1 organic listing above the #1 paid listing if Google so chooses to show paid results in that top slot.
I guess the best thing I can do is what I’ve been doing all along, which is to make sure my family and friends know which is the REAL free credit report website, and which is just a clever and misleading marketing campaign by a private entity.
